  Hans was born near Berlin, Germany in 1936, and moved to Hamburg after the war where he did his apprenticeship as a chef in a Four Season Hotel and then was a chef in a four star hotel in Munich. After this he was a chef for five star hotels in Switzerland, England, Africa, and came to the US in 1962 where he was an executive chef at the World’s Fair in Seattle and then worked at the Hyatt in Los Angeles before opening up the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta.
